<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical jaw instrument with a proper cable connection. <P>SOLUTION: This surgical jaw instrument (1) has a jaw head (12) which is fixed on the distal end of a shaft (8), and carries two jaw members (13) which can move in the opposite directions to each other. In the surgical jaw instrument (1), the jaw head can be connected to one of two operating members (6 and 7) which can move in the opposite directions in a shaft direction of a handling device (2) through an actuating rod (10) which is installed movably in the length direction in the shaft. The other operating member is connected to the shaft, and the jaw head is electrically connected to a cable (20) which extends in a proximal direction from the actuating rod by passing through the actuating rod. The jaw head has at least one electrode which is constituted to work onto a tissue. The actuating rod and the jaw head are detachably connected with the handling device transverse to a shaft direction or in a proximal direction parallel to the shaft direction.
