PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope fixing device having a structure capable of space-saving of an elevator hoistway without interference of a length adjusting part with a rope anchoring member. SOLUTION: The maximum outer size of the length adjusting member (outside diameter size L1 of a composite nut 113) which is arranged between a rope side fixing part and an anchoring member side fixing part and absorbs elongation of an elevator rope 3 caused by a secular change, is formed smaller than the hole diameter L2 of a passing hole 9a formed in a hitch plate 9 as the rope anchoring member. Accordingly, the length adjusting member (composite nut 113) can get into the passing hole 9a of the hitch plate 9 when a spring member 12 provided for equalizing tension of the elevator rope 3 fluctuating according to the mounted load of a car 1 expands.
