PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare collective behavior model for content synthesis. SOLUTION: Disclosed are embodiments for generating visual patterns that exhibit interesting group dynamics. Embodiments include methods and systems for synthesizing collective attribute modeling, such as collective behavior, using physics-inspired rules. In embodiments, multi-state energy functions allow for encoding a rich set of behaviors with few control parameters. A disturbance-based control scheme allows for smooth transitions between the various stable configurations and exhibits interesting and complex dynamic behavior.
