The invention relates to a lining for the hood (1) of an automotive vehicle for stiffening the hood close to its periphery by forming with said hood a hollow body on a portion at least of its periphery, said lining having a U-shaped cross-section with a bottom (19( and side walls (17). The bottom or at least one of the side walls includes, at least locally, a weakness area (21) dimensioned so as to be broken in case of a shock between the hood and the head of a pedestrian once the bottom of the hollow body is rested against an elevated hard point (9) of the engine compartment. The invention also relates to a combination of such lining with different hard points of the engine compartment.
