The drive (1) has a part i.e. rail made of aluminum or steel, arranged along another part in an adjustable manner, where the former part has a rotatably supported disk (3). A permanent magnet (2) is provided in the disk, and the latter part is arranged at the former part such that a partial area of the disk has a variable distance to the former part during the rotation of the disk. The latter part has a groove in a disk direction, and the partial area is partially countersinked in the groove. The disk is displaced in a rotating motion by an electric motor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a linear position drive (2) a method for operating a linear position drive.
