PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for enabling utilization of each function provided in an information processing apparatus, without going through the intermediary of a device driver. SOLUTION: Compound machine executes processing for achieving a function instructed by instruction data, when the instruction data is recorded in a shared region of a RAM. Here, the shared region of the RAM, to which the instruction data is recorded, can be recognized by a PC connected to the complex equipment as a storage region accessible by a file system which is provided as standard to OS. For this reason, the PC side can control the operation of the compound machine, merely by recording the instruction data in the shared region via the OS, leading to elimination of the need for a special device driver for controlling the operation of the compound machine.
