PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method in which an optical waveguide can be easily obtained from its base material having a planned part for the optical waveguide is formed. SOLUTION: A film body, in which a planned part for an optical waveguide is formed, is prepared on the surface of a substrate 1. On the face of the overclad layer 4 of the planned part in this film body, an adhesive tape 5 is stuck and then peeled off, by which a separating force from the substrate 1 is added to break an underclad layer 2 along a pattern. This underclad layer 2 is peeled off from the substrate 1 together with a core layer 3 and the overclad layer 4, thereby separating from the substrate 1 the optical waveguide A comprising the underclad layer 2, the core layer 3 and the overclad layer 4.
