PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation structure which is small in load hysteresis dependency, and always exerts excellent base isolation effect and damping effect. SOLUTION: The base isolation structure is arranged between a building and the ground, and constructed by stacking a plurality of rubber layers and hard plate layers alternately and horizontally to the ground surface. Herein the base isolation structure has an equivalent rigidity Keq and an equivalent damping coefficient Heq having the following characteristics: Keq (in a first cycle)/Keq (in a third cycle) <1.20, and Heq (in a first cycle)/Heq (in a third cycle) >0.90.
