摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical underground pipe protective structure which can minimize relative ground deformation with respect to underground pipes embedded in soft ground at the time of an earthquake, is usable even if a soft ground layer is very thick, and contributes to cost reduction, and to provide a method of constructing the underground pipe protective structure. SOLUTION: The underground pipe protective structure has a soil improvement body 1 formed by improving a surface layer portion of the soft ground S and formed of a horizontal board-like lower improved body 2 extending along a passage of the pipes P embedded in the ground and horizontally arranged on a lower side of the pipes P and lateral side improvement bodies 3, 3 connected to the right and left side surfaces of the lower improvement body 2, extending upward from the same, and located on right and left sides of the pipes P. Thus the underground pipes P embedded in the soft ground S are protected by the soil improvement body 1 located on the lower side and the right and left sides, and the soil improvement body has a simple structure without requiring driving of a number of support piles, which leads to implementation of an earthquake-resistant technology of life lines having a long construction distance, at a low cost.
