PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matrix display apparatus which reduces charging and discharging electric power of a load capacity formed between adjacent address electrodes, scanning electrodes facing the address electrodes and discharge sustain electrodes and a driving circuit. SOLUTION: The address driving circuit 5 of the matrix display apparatus performing desired display by driving the capacitive load is provided with a charge distribution period between address driving periods, and an output selection circuit within the address driving circuit 5 is controlled so as to distribute the charges of the address electrodes 6 between a plurality of the address electrodes within the charge distribution period.
