A syringe adapter assembly comprises an adapter body and a ram extender. In one embodiment, the adapter body ( 12 ) is attached to an injector by a rear connector plate ( 50 ). In a second aspect, the adapter body ( 12, 122 ) may comprise a drain hole ( 130 ) and/or seating ring ( 140 ). In another aspect, the invention comprises a cleaning member ( 200 ) having a body ( 204 ) and a plurality of cleaning members ( 210, 220, 230 ) extending therefrom.
