<p>Xylella fastidiosa is the cause of the Pierce's Disease in grapevines and other cultures of economic importance like citrics, almond trees, peach trees, and other cultures susceptible to the bacteria. Anti-Xylella fastidiosa substances were developed comprising hen scFv antibodies attached to a lytic peptide Cecropin P1 (CP1), expressed in M 13 phages, that specifically eliminates 100% of the Xylella fastidiosa in in vitro culture, using a concentration of 3.6 x 105 phages/bacterial cell in 28 hours of incubation; a scFv expressed in M13 phages, that it requires between 28 and 48 hours to eliminate the 100% of the bacteria in a culture in vitro; and finally a soluble scFv by itself or attached to the lytic peptide CP1 that it eliminates almost 100% of the Xylella fastidiosa bacteria in culture in vitro. This strategy has a potential application to solve diseases in plants caused by bacteria. This invention eliminates in its totality the Xylella fastidiosa bacterium in culture in vitro. It consists of using a recombinant antibody scFv obtained from a hen alone or combined with lytic peptide (cecropin P1, derivative of a nematode), and both expressed in the phage M13 or in soluble form. This bacterium is the cause of Pierce's Disease that happens in the grapevines, and also causes diseases in other cultures (citric cultures, almonds, plumbs, peach tree, laurel).</p> |
