<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric/electrostrictive material which is provided with a piezoelectric/electrostrictive article exhibiting an excellent piezoelectric/electrostrictive performance and provided with a piezoelectric/electrostrictive part having small asymmetric fluctuation of a D-E curve and having large piezoelectric displacement and can be used for manufacturing a piezoelectric/electrostrictive element exhibiting the excellent piezoelectric/electrostrictive performance. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric/electrostrictive material has a non-stoichiometric composition expressed by (1-x)(Bi<SB>a</SB>Na<SB>b</SB>TiO<SB>3+δ</SB>)-x(K<SB>c</SB>NbO<SB>3+ζ</SB>), provided that 0.01≤x<0.08, a<0.5, 1.01≤(a/b)≤1.08, 0.92≤(a+b)/c≤0.99, 0.9≤c≤1.1, and ζ≠0 when δ=0 and δ≠0 when ζ=0. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
