PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of easily setting parameters that the discharge lamp lighting device has. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device comprises a lighting circuit lighting a discharge lamp FL by controlling power supplied to the discharge lamp FL; filaments F1, F2 of the discharge lamp FL or disconnection detection circuits 51, 52 for detecting the disconnection of a power supply path to the filaments F1, F2; and a control means 6 for controlling the lighting of a load by the lighting circuit, based on a prescribed parameter. The disconnection detection circuits 51, 52 set the parameters to the control means 6, when a resistance load is connected as the load of the lighting circuit.
