PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laser scanning optical apparatus capable of plotting a high quality image, even by a single automatic focusing mechanism for a plurality of beams. SOLUTION: The laser scanning optical apparatus which uses multibeam and is mounted as a print head on an image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine or a printer, is constituted of a multibeam laser 1 having a plurality of laser beam emitting elements, a collimator lens 2, a polygon mirror 3 and a scanning lens 4. The beam diameter on a photoreceptor drum 102 is adjusted, by moving the collimator lens 2 on the optical axis for one beam, and then adjustment of bias currents, adjustment of emitting light quantity and/or adjustment of relative position of beam on the photoreceptor drum are performed for each of the laser beam emitting elements.
