PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bifunctional epoxy compound and a method for producing the compound. SOLUTION: The bifunctional epoxy compound is expressed by a 3,4-epoxycyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid methallyl derivative, and the compound is produced by reacting an alicyclic olefin compound with hydrogen peroxide. The reaction is carried out by using one or more compound selected from the group consisting of molybdenum compounds, tungsten compounds and rhenium compounds, and quaternary ammonium bisulfate as catalysts.
