The device has a sheet gripper system (6) mounted axially and adjustably in a cylinder (1) and displaced by an actuator that is influenced by an evaluation/control unit (15). The actuator is designed as a combination actuator (11) and has a rotor/motor shaft (12) realizing a rotational motion, and a liner drive driving the shaft in axial direction. The shaft synchronously follows rotating motion of the cylinder. The shaft is connected by a pull shaft (8) arranged coaxially within the cylinder, and a driver (7) is rotatably connected with the sheet gripper system.
