TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITH ASSIST MODE FOR USE WITH HEART-LUNG MACHINE

A system uses both a heart-lung machine (HLM) (24) and a catheter (12) and/or pad (18) to reach a target temperature for, e.g., cardiac bypass surgery. At or about the target temperature, temperature control of the catheter/pad is suspended and patient temperature controlled using only the HLM.
