<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably control a wall charge distribution in a discharge cell while improving a dark-place contrast. <P>SOLUTION: A plasma display device sets initial selection cells except discharge cells to provide luminance display of black level in a light emittable state in an address period Tw of a subfield SF<SB>1</SB>, makes the initial selection cells emit light by applying a discharge sustain pulse the odd number of times allocated to the subfield SF<SB>1</SB>in a light emission period T1 of the subfield SF<SB>1</SB>, sets the initial selection cells selectively in a non-light-emission state in address periods Te of following subfields SF<SB>1</SB>to SF<SB>N</SB>by selectively generating erasure discharges of the initial selection cells, makes charge adjustments in charge adjustment periods Ta of the following subfields SF<SB>1</SB>to SF<SB>N</SB>, and makes the discharge cells in the light emittable state emit light in light emission periods T<SB>2</SB>to T<SB>N</SB>of the following subfields SF<SB>1</SB>to SF<SB>N</SB>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
