<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump in which a refrigerant leaking out through a mechanical seal is prevented from intruding into a rolling bearing. <P>SOLUTION: This water pump comprises a fixed member 20 having a fixed flange 21 and a fixed cylindrical part 22, an impeller 60, a rotating cylindrical shaft 51, a rotating member 50 having a rotating flange 52 and a pulley 53, the rolling bearing 31 disposed between the fixed cylindrical part 22 and the pulley 53, and the mechanical seal 40 disposed between the fixed cylindrical part 22 and the rotating cylindrical shaft 51. A seal member 37 one end of which is secured to an outer ring 34 and the other end of which has a seal lip 39b brought into contact with the seal groove 32a of an inner ring 32 is disposed near one ends of the inner ring 32 and the outer ring 34 of the rolling bearing 31. An extension 33 projecting toward the rotating flange 52 is formed at one end of the inner ring 32.
