METHOD FOR PRODUCING LIPOSOME CONTAINING PHARMACEUTICAL AGENT HAVING HIGH SPECIFIC GRAVITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method which is efficient in producing a large quantity of liposomes containing an aqueous solution of a pharmaceutical agent having a high specific gravity and gives liposomes of high dispersion stability. SOLUTION: The production method comprises the step of heating a liquid obtained by mixing an aqueous solution of a specific gravity in the range of 1.1-2.0 with empty liposomes previously produced in water at a temperature of 50-100°C under a pressure of 0.1-50 MPa to entrap the aqueous solution in the liposomes. It is desirable that the aqueous solution used is a solution prepared by dissolving a substance of a density of 1.3-3.0 g/cm3in water, for example, a solution prepared by dissolving an iodine compound for an iodine-based X-ray contrast medium or a gadolinium compound for a gadolinium-based MRI contrast medium in water.
