PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a vibration level generated even with regard to such a raw material with poor grindability as to be difficult to be dealt with, under variable speed control by a variable speed electric motor, as the raw material layer is reduced to the specified thickness, and consequently, ensure a stably continuous operation. SOLUTION: The control device comprises (1) a set data storage means which inputs rotational frequency data, raw material data and raw material supply data and stores predetermined set data, assuming that a vibration of preset magnitude occurs in a vertical grinder, when the preset layer thickness of the raw material is reduced to the specified thickness, (2) a set data storage means which stores the preset data, (3) a vibration forecast means which forecasts the generation of a vibration of such a magnitude as preset in the vertical grinder from the reduction of the layer thickness, by comparing the stored layer thickness measurement data acquired from a layer thickness meter with the set data stored in the set data storage means, and (4) a feedforward signal generating means which generates a feedforward signal in order to a void the vibration when the vibration is forecast.
