PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a keyboard to input characters such as alphabets or kana (Roman characters) to an electronic apparatus such as a personal computer with one hand, without deteriorating input speed compared in using a conventional full keyboard. SOLUTION: The keyboard has a plurality of character keys 12 each assigned to different alphabets and arranged in a nearly rectangular area. The five of the character keys 12 arranged in the center are assigned to vowel characters in the Japanese syllabary such as A, I, U, E, O. The character keys arranged around the above character keys assigned to the vowel characters are assigned to consonant characters in the Japanese syllabary such as K, S, T, N, H, M, Y, R, W. The character keys arranged around the above characters assigned to the consonant characters are assigned to the remaining alphabets of F, V, Q, C, G, Z, X, J, D, P, B, L.
