PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of deterioration in performance caused by prefetch operation by each of controllers in a storage system with a plurality of redundant controllers. SOLUTION: Controllers 10a, 10b comprise prefetch processing means 101a, 101b and cache memories 103a, 103b respectively. The prefetch processing means of the controller 10a, upon determining prefetch as a result of a series of read requests from a host, inquires with the prefetch processing means of the other controller 10b whether data in the same area is the already prefetched data or the data yet to be prefetched in the other controller 10b, and performs prefetch processing normally when the already prefetched data is not found in the other controller. When the already prefetched data is found in the cache memory of the other controller, the data is registered in a prefetch table as prefetch data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
