PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device for storing rod-shaped articles, especially filter rods, of a tobacco processing industry, in which the rod-shaped articles are aligned transverse-axially parallely at a hopper section without increasing the amount as an increased amount of the stored rod-shaped articles. SOLUTION: The storage device 1 includes the hopper section 2 having a supply area associated with a supply unit 3 through a supply path and a withdrawal area associated with a withdrawal unit 4 through a withdrawal path. In the storage device 1, the hopper section 2 has a releasing unit for reducing a local pressure, which acts at the rod-shaped articles. The storage device is formed as a transporting element 5 with a substantially vertically upward aligned conveying path, and one supply path and a conveying path and the other withdrawal path and a conveying path are different from each other. The invention relates to a method for using the transport element 5 reducing the local pressure, a method for reducing the local pressure in the supply area, and a storage method using the pressure reduction method.
