PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to the peripheral surface of a developing roller during assemblage or maintenance. SOLUTION: The developing device 20 includes a first developing roller 41 with a cylindrical magnetic body 41b inserted in it, and a second developing roller 42 disposed opposite the first developing roller 41. The second developing roller 42 is provided with a developer leakage prevention member 50, and a positioning roller 60 forming a gap of a predetermined dimension between the peripheral surface of the second developing roller 42 and that of a photoreceptor drum 121. A sealing material holder 51 which is a composing element of the developer leakage prevention member 50, is disposed opposite the peripheral surface of the first developing roller 41, and has a pair of legs 514 sandwiching a second sealing material 522 sliding on the peripheral surface of the first developing roller 41. Each of the legs 514 projects outward from the corresponding positioning roller 60. In addition, the amount of projection of each leg 514 from the positioning roller 60 is set so that a straight line L connecting the leading ends Q1 and Q2 of the leg 514 does not interfere with the positioning roller 60.
