PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile driving method capable of accurately driving a pile in a design position, by highly accurately calculating coordinates of a pile core position (a pile top position) in the design driving end height of the pile, in pile driving work on the water by a pile driving ship. SOLUTION: This pile driving method is performed by the pile driving ship 1 for driving the pile in the water bottom by imparting impact to a pile head part by a hammer 4, by holding the pile 3 along a turning or longitudinally inclining pile leader 2. The pile driving method drives the pile based on a pile position calculated based on coordinate measuring data, by measuring the coordinates of the pile top position by surveying a reflector as a target by a total station 6, by arranging a whole azimuth reflection type reflector 5 in a pile leader part in the vicinity of the design driving end height, with the pipe top position 3b being the pile core position corresponding to the design driving end height of the pile of a driving object set as a positioning control point.
