PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable dryer capable of surely detecting fire extinguishment when extinguishing a burner and having a superior safety. SOLUTION: This portable dryer includes: a burner for burning gas fed from a gas cylinder; an ignition mechanism for igniting the burner; a catch-fire detection part for detecting the catch-fire of the burner; a fan for blowing air heated in the periphery of the burner by gas combustion, as hot air from an outlet; a control part for controlling the rotating speed of a motor for driving the fan; a blowing temperature detection part for detecting the blowing temperature of air blown from the outlet; an outside air temperature detection part for detecting the outside air temperature; and a fire extinguishment detection part for detecting the extinguishment of the burner. The fire extinguishment part sets fire extinguishment detection conditions of the burner based on the outside air temperature and detects the extinguishment of the burner based on the fire extinguishment detection conditions and the output of the blowing temperature detection part.
