<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device and an information search method for retrieving information which suits user's taste more quickly and more accurately. <P>SOLUTION: An information source 12 stores information for retrieval. An information for retrieval acquisition section 11 acquires information for retrieval used as an object for retrieval from information source 12, and an information for retrieval vectorization section 13 arranges information for retrieval to a vector space. A user's information manipulation history accumulation section 15 stores manipulation information which the user has manipulated in the past, and data indicating manipulation contents, a manipulation information acquisition section 16 acquires the data, and a user taste extraction section 17 extracts user's taste from the data and notifies it to an effective element number reduction section 18. The effective element number reduction section 18 evaluates each element of vector of information for retrieval using user's taste, reduces the number of effective element by removing the elements below standard.
