PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is capable of suppressing occurrence of hollow character and scratch of a photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus successively transferring images formed on a plurality of photoreceptors to a transfer body to form a color image has at least one set of the combinations of the photoreceptors which has such a relationship between two photoreceptors that the surface friction coefficient of the photoreceptor forming the image on the downstream side is smaller than that of the photoreceptor forming the image on the upstream side in order of transferring the image to the transfer body.
