PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing, which can surely prevent a line from falling, even in a line-loosed state at actual fishing. SOLUTION: This spinning reel for fishing is provided with a portion 5a for holding a ring-like front-side flange portion 31; a trunk portion 5b for winding up a line, and a rear-side flange portion 5d having a cylindrical portion 5c on the outside of a spool 5; a tapered portion 5e gradually reducing the diameter toward the rear portion of a spool shaft 18 on the rear side of the outer periphery of the rear side flange portion 5d; a circumferential groove 5f behind the tapered portion 5e; a rising portion 5g rising outward in the radial direction behind the circumferential groove 5f; a second tapered portion 5h gradually enlarging the diameter toward the rear portion of the spool shaft 18 behind the rising portion 5g; a step portion 5j having a rearward inclined surface 5i behind the second tapered portion 5h; and a third tapered portion 5k gradually reducing the diameter toward the rear portion of the spool shaft 18 behind the step portion 5j.
