The device has a ball (32) rotatably supported and serving as an applying unit and an inner chamber (26) for a liquid or gel-like product e.g. lip vermilion (40), to be applied on a side of the ball. The inner chamber is provided with supply openings (18, 20) for the product to be applied. Ventilation openings are provided for ventilating the inner chamber and lie behind the supply openings seen from the ball. A retaining device (30) is provided for holding the ball, and a limiting wall of a cavity is implemented as a single piece with the retaining device.
