<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of rapidly performing recording operation when starting the recording operation and also surely performing operation control by detection of toner concentration. <P>SOLUTION: When a recording signal is input, paper supply restrictions are canceled (S101), and concentration control is started on the basis of on detection output from a concentration detection sensor (S102). Counting the number of supplied sheets is started (S103), the paper supply operation is performed (S104) to perform the recording operation, and whether or not a counted value of the number of supplied sheets attains a prescribed number is checked (S105). When judging that the number of supplied sheets attains the prescribed number, the paper supply restrictions are started (S107).
