PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery in which the inter-pole distance of positive and negative electrodes is ensured, to provide a superior short-circuit proof and dropping of outputs, after repeated cycles is suppressed, as well as, a battery pack of which the deterioration of life is suppressed by using the battery. SOLUTION: The battery comprises a group of electrodes in which strip-like positive electrode plate and negative electrode plate are wound via a separator, and at least one of both electrode plates has a metal porous body packed with an active material, and the surface of the electrode plate is coated at the end part in the major side with a mixture containing polytetrafluoroethylene and fluororubber.
