PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can secure fixing performance by preventing fixing temperature from falling. SOLUTION: The fixing device has a fixing roller which fixes an unfixed image transferred to a paper and has a heat source inside, a pressure roller disposed opposite the fixing roller, and a pressure means of varying pressure applied between the fixing roller and the pressure roller, the pressure applied by the pressure means being reduced during a paper interval wherein no conveyed paper is clamped between the fixing roller and the pressure roller.
