PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device with a stable fixing performance. SOLUTION: As shown in FIG. 5(a), the bottom surface 64c is pre-shaped in a state convexly toward the pressure roll side. More specifically, the bottom surface 64c is formed so as to project mostly in the central part in the longitudinal direction of a removal pad 64 with a gentle curve from the projected portion to the end 64d of the bottom surface 64c. By applying a pressing load in this state to the removal pad 64 using a spring member 67 as shown in FIG. 5(b), the removal pad 64 is deformed (curved) concavely toward the pressure roll. Thereby, the bottom surface 64c is deformed by following the deformation. Since the bottom surface 64c is formed to be preliminarily curved convexly toward the pressure roll side, the bottom surface 64c of the removal pad 64 after the deformation is substantially flat.
