STORAGE-STABLE AQUEOUS EMULSIONS OF ALPHA-SILYL TERMINATED POLYMERS

Aqueous, storage-stable emulsions of alpha-silyl terminated polymers are useful as adhesives, sealing compounds and coating materials. The alpha-silyl terminated polymers correspond to the general formula (I): in which R¹ is a linear or branched alkyl or alkoxy group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R² and R³ independently of one another are linear or branched alkyl groups containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R⁴ and R⁶ independently of one another are divalent organic connecting groups, R⁵ is a hydrophobic divalent polymer group; and R⁷ is a CH₂SiR¹(OR²)(OR³) group, in which R¹, R² and R³ have the above meaning or R⁷ stands for a group that lends the polymer of the general formula (I) the property of self-emulsification in water by forming an oil in water emulsion.
