The intermediate element (1) has a laminar extension in a plane provided at right angle to a mounting rail e.g. C-rail. A receiving unit (6) receives electrical contact units (48) on sides of a laminar extension of the receiving unit. The receiving unit allows electrical and/or electronic connections of a user-specific electrical component e.g. signal converter unit, to contact each other outside a housing. The receiving unit is formed as a single piece.
