<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a banknote processor preventing that remaining banknotes stored therein may run short and also reducing the frequency of re-verification. <P>SOLUTION: The banknote processor 1 has a banknote cassette 30 for storing banknotes 100. The banknotes 100 to be dispensed are discharged from the banknote cassette 30. The banknote processor includes a light shielding part 32a and an optical sensor 36, for detecting the quantity of banknotes 100 stored in the banknote cassette 30, and a determining part 35 for determining whether or not the banknotes 100 can be dispensed. When the determining part 35 determines that the banknotes 100 discharged from the banknote cassette 30 can be dispensed, the banknotes 100 is dispensed; if the determining part determines that the banknotes 100 cannot be dispensed and if the result of detection by the light-shielding part 32a and the optical sensor 36 indicates that a set quantity of banknotes or more remain, the banknotes 100 are collected; if the result of detection indicates that the set quantity of banknotes or less remain, the banknotes 100 are re-verified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
