PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-core linear motor reduced in detent force at an entrance/exit in particular, and compact in structure, and manufacturable at low cost. SOLUTION: The detent force of the linear motor 1 can be suppressed by selecting the height of an iron pole 522 as a different at two outer sides of a combined coil, preferably by gradually reducing the height of the iron pole 522 toward the end of a stator 2. Further, the detent force can further be suppressed with an extremely small loss of driving power by slightly declining a magnet. The exact size of the iron pole 522 especially depends on the size of a coil 51 and other characteristics in the whole configuration of the linear motor, and can be optimized by simulation.
