PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a structure by using a detachable detection sensor for a sheet loading tray also as an another sensor. SOLUTION: This sheet processing device 119 is provided with an optional tray 18c and a stack tray 18a which are liftably and detachably provided to a device body 119A and on which sheets delivered from the device body are loaded, a sheet sensor 3 detecting the vertical positions of the trays 18c and 18a, and a CPU 900 vertically moving the trays 18c and 18a to a position detected by the sheet sensor. The CPU determines that the trays 18c and 18a are not mounted on the device body 119A when the sheet sensor 3 is inoperative although the stack tray is vertically moved to the position detected by the sheet sensor 3.
