PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveying device certainly blowing away powdery dust such as paper powder adhering to a guide plate. SOLUTION: This conveying device for transferring books to a sorting device from a carrying-in device is provided with an upper conveying device composed of conveying members 31a, 31b, 31c having belt bodies conveying the books and guide plates 39a, 39b erected on both side parts of the conveying members 31a, 31b, 31c, photoelectric sensors arranged in at least translucent parts of the guide plates 39a, 39b, a destaticizing air feeder 65 for feeding ionized destaticizing air to the inlet side of the upper conveying device, and air jetting nozzles 65 for jetting air to at least book conveying path side surfaces of the guide plates 39a, 39b.
