PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scissors type shredder, of lightweight and improved operability, which can be easily manufactured. SOLUTION: The scissors type shredder 1 is composed of a plurality of scissor elements, each consisting of an upper blade member and a lower blade member pivoted to each other by a pin member 30, and combined on each other. The upper blade members 11-15 and the lower blade members 21-25 of the scissor elements E1-E5 have outer circumferential edge parts 11e-15e and 21e-25e to define blade surfaces. At least either of the upper blade member and the lower blade member of each scissors element has an inner recess 11r-15r and 21r-25r formed recessed to the blade surface on the inner side of the outer circumferential edge part. At least either of the upper blade member and the lower blade member of each scissor element has a swollen part 11p-15p and 21p-25p swollen to the cutting edge at least in part of the opposite side surface of the blade surface with the inner recesses.
