<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and the like in which highly accurate specific document determination processing can be performed in simple configuration in the image processing apparatus capable of simultaneously reading both sides of a document and further, processing for thinning data from image data for one line in a main scanning direction is not required, either. <P>SOLUTION: Document front side data and document rear side data read by a CCD 37 and a CCD 31e are reduced in a sub scanning direction by a reduction means 116.
