摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high hardness and high density cubic crystal boron nitride based sintered compact utilized for a cutting tool, a heat sink or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Cubic crystal boron nitride powder with the average particle diameter of 0.5 to 6 &mu;m in 10 to 50 vol.% and &beta;-sialon powder with the average particle diameter of 0.1 to 1 &mu;m in 50 to 90 vol.% are mixed. The mixture is pressurized under the pressure of 80 to 120 MPa. Simultaneously, it is applied with a direct pulse current in a vacuum atmosphere, is heated to the heating temperature range of 1,500 to 1,700&deg;C at a temperature rising rate of 80 to 130&deg;C/min, and is subjected to discharge plasma sintering so as to be heated and held in the above heating temperature range for 1 to 10 min, thus the high hardness and high density cubic crystal boron nitride based sintered compact is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
