PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for highly accurately manufacturing a power transmission shaft. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the power transmission shaft, insertion to a partner member is performed and spline-fitting is performed. The manufacturing method has a step for forming a temporary groove 9 in an axial direction by pressing linear projection parts of a preliminary molding die provided with a large number of linear projection parts in parallel to one another; and a step for inserting a shaft-like member 6 formed with the temporary groove 9 to a die hole 14 formed with the projection part in an axial direction on the whole surface of an inner periphery of a finishing die 12 and forming a true groove by enlarging the temporary groove 9 by press-fitting the projection part of the die hole 14 into the temporary groove 9.
