PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power tool comprising an output spindle at the front end portion of a body containing a motor therein so as to dismountably mount a bit thereon, the electric power tool which is reduced in the length in the forward and rearward direction. SOLUTION: A cylindrical portion 25 for rotatably supporting an anvil 9 is formed at the front end of a hammer case 6. Steel balls 30 entering and leaving the insertion hole 29 of the bit are provided between bearing rings 26, 27 in the anvil 9 in the cylindrical portion 25. A lock ring 31 is mounted outside so as to slide forward and rearward within the region between the lock position for pushing the steel balls 30 to the projected position and the lock releasing position for releasing the push of the steel balls 30. An operation sleeve 36, which is connected to the lock ring 31 over the cylindrical portion 25 via a wire frame 33, and slides the lock ring 31 to the lock position and the lock release position, is mounted outside the cylindrical portion 25 so as to slide forward and rearward in a state energized rearward.
