A method of forming an opening in a bone comprising: inserting a tip of a curved rigid tool into an entry point in the bone and advancing the tool al ong a curved path into the bone. Another aspect of the invention provides an orthopedic tool comprising a rigid curved body having a diameter suitable f or insertion into a bone and a sharp tip at a distal end of the curved body.
