An optimal index search method and a device thereof are provided to offer an efficient index search method, increase usability of a storage space, and increase efficiency for implementing an external module with an index by providing various operations. A searcher searches a first field corresponding to a first key value from an index storing the key value in a field unit, and searches a second field of a level corresponding to a search request from the index based on the searched first field when a search request is received. An extractor(220) extracts an ID corresponding to the searched second field. A contents provider(230) provides metadata of contents or the contents according to the extracted ID. A UI(User Interface) provider(215) provides a UI comprising a plurality of levels to receive a search request. The field of the index stores at least one of pointers appointing a node storing a prior key value and a post key value.
