A touch screen user interface for use in, for example, a mobile phone displays a number of icons relating to various functions. On detection of user interaction with the touch screen the invention determines if the impact zone associated with the interaction relates to activation of a single icon or if more than one icon lies within the activation zone. If it is determined that multiple icons lie within the activation zone then a "helper screen" is displayed showing the multiple icons from the selected impact zone and from which the user can make a more accurate selection. The invention aims to overcome the problem of selecting icons when they are displayed on a small screen. |
